The first artifacts presented to the Museum of Fine Arts have been sculptures from Mikhail Schekin’s collections. After the revolution, the museum received sculptures from nationalized collections. Francis I, who was a fantastic art collector, had this old fort razed and started to build on its web site another royal residence, the Louvre, which was added to by almost every navigate here subsequent French monarch. Under Francis I, only a small portion of the current Louvre was accomplished, beneath the architect Pierre Lescot. In the 17th century, major additions were made to the constructing advanced by Louis XIII and Louis XIV. Since its founding, OCMA has been a frontrunner in presenting and preserving the art of our time. When thirteen visionary girls came together in 1962 to open the museum—then known as the Fine Arts Patrons Pavilion Gallery—they shared a strong conviction that Orange County wanted a venue the place important art might be loved. From the seed of this idea, a small art gallery grew to become the Newport Harbor Art Museum in 1968 and the Orange County Museum of Art in 1997. As OCMA’s collections, exhibitions, and programs have grown, so has its status of investing in promising artists and helping shape art history.
