Bolt and ABG resolve their differences

Bolt and Authentic Brands Group have settled their lawsuit, with the two companies releasing a statement saying they are now “proud partners” again. Authentic Brands Group, which owns over 30 consumer and retail brands including Forever 21, Brooks Brothers, and Lucky Brand, had filed a lawsuit against Bolt earlier this year alleging the company “utterly failed to deliver” on its technology capabilities.
The lawsuit claimed Bolt had breached confidentiality provisions, fallen behind schedule in deploying new technology, and didn’t work well with third-party apps like Klarna. They also claimed Bolt had “enraged customers” with a “disastrous” Forever 21 mobile app rollout.
Bolt had countered that the suit was mostly baseless, and that Authentic Brands Group was really after a significant equity stake in the company.
With the settlement, Authentic Brands Group will now become a Bolt shareholder, although the exact terms of the settlement were not made public. They will receive a less than 1% stake in Bolt.

Jamie Salter, founder, chairman, and CEO of Authentic Brands Group, said the company has always prided itself on working with best-in-class partners to build a sustainable and scalable business. Maju Kuruvilla, CEO of Bolt, added that the one-click checkout company continues to be a “proud partner of Authentic Brands Group.”
The decision to settle the lawsuit may have been influenced by external factors, such as the economy appearing to be headed toward a recession, and the retail and tech industries facing significant challenges.
By patching up their partnership, the two companies may be better equipped to withstand future headwinds.
As Kuruvilla said, “Today marks a new chapter in our partnership with Authentic Brands Group and I’ve never felt more confident — together the future is ours.”

The rekindled alliance between Bolt and Authentic Brands Group could lead to a more prosperous future for both companies and their investors.
The exact terms of the settlement remain confidential, but the fact that Authentic Brands Group will become a Bolt shareholder suggests that the two companies have found a mutually beneficial agreement.
Authentic Brands Group will receive a stake in Bolt.
