Powerpay unveiled a new platform aimed at simplifying how Canadian small and mid-sized businesses manage and pay their employees. The announcement came during Powerday 2026, the company’s first customer and partner summit, held September 30 in Toronto.

Made by Dayforce Canada Ltd., Powerpay serves over 46,000 businesses across Canada. The initial release features redesigned interfaces for employees and managers, expanded time and scheduling functions, and Powerpay Answers—an AI tool designed to help users access workforce information more easily.

The updated payroll experience is scheduled to launch on the new platform in early 2027, consolidating additional workforce workflows into a single system. “Small businesses shouldn’t need to stitch together multiple systems to manage and pay their people,” said Behrad Bayanpour, General Manager of Powerpay. “They need technology that is simple to use, can grow with them, and increasingly takes administrative work off their plate.”

Powerpay’s evolution spans 25 years. Originally launched in 2001 as a payroll solution, the company has expanded to support broader HR and workforce management needs. Today, it markets itself as a Canadian payroll and HR platform purpose-built for small and mid-sized businesses.

The platform shift reflects Dayforce’s broader philosophy. “Across Dayforce, we believe organizations should not have to manage work through fragmented systems and disconnected data,” said David Ossip, CEO and Founder of Dayforce. “Powerpay is bringing that same principle to Canadian small and mid-sized businesses, combining simplicity with greater capability.”

Behrad Bayanpour emphasized that the new platform eliminates the need for small businesses to coordinate separate tools for payroll and employee management. He noted that over 46,000 Canadian businesses already rely on Powerpay’s services, and the 2027 launch will integrate additional workflow capabilities into one unified system. The AI-powered Powerpay Answers feature allows users to retrieve workforce data without handling complex menus or contacting support staff.

David Ossip stated that Dayforce’s overarching approach centers on eliminating fragmented systems and disconnected data across all organizational levels. He explained that Powerpay extends this vision specifically to Canadian small and mid-sized businesses, offering them access to technology that combines ease of use with advanced functionality. The company’s 25-year history shows continuous expansion from basic payroll to full HR solutions.
